1954 MERCEDES W196-KIT???

hey guys
had this one on the back burner for a while trying to find a tire solution. the "bicycle" tires that are on this thing were impossible for me to cast, too thin and stretchy. so, I had to break down and go the o-ring route. I will sand them a bit and hope they look better. the rims were a PITA, they are so thin I blew a couple of them out machining the insert recess, but I finally got a good set. chassis will be brass with no body posts. the axles run through the body sides and hold it all in place. gotta tone down that silver though. threw the last pic in there so you can see the difference in the broadspeed and Mercedes wheels

thanks guys
Peter they grip fair so I am hoping a sanding will help.
David, I feel a liitle crazed after making a set, especially if I botch a couple.
Stephen and Rusty, if I do offer it, it will prob be body and driver which I don't see selling too well as wheels/tires aren't readily available(I don't think). my rims are made on a "as I need them basis" on a manual lathe. I am afraid the time involved in making rims for a customer base without cnc would leave me curled up in a dark corner talking to my toenails- driven to madness. I would love to offer the whole thing but without cnc I don't see that happening.

a possibility would maybe be to ask Mickey for the dimensions of those wheels and then send them to Steve from Ranch-Design. Steve offers custom wheels. That´s the way i got the tiny wheels for my Mini.

hey guys
I have had a lot of interest in this car and a lot of questions. I bought some new tooling that makes these rims so much easier to make. so here is what I propose in an effort to get one of these to those that want one. this " kit" as I will call it, consisting of the body, driver, turned rims and inserts for $20.00 shipped in the lower 48. you could also call this a fund raiser for a couple of pieces of equip I need to get 43MotorSports rolling.
