I found a source for small rubber tyres, wheels and metal axles for my Heller Minis and Reliant Robin projects. Visited a DT wannabe and found four-packs of toy airplanes with pull back friction set up. $1.49 a pack, tire size and track spot-on!

They are a tad oversize, Peter, but for the price they will work. More inexpensive than regular HO slot set ups.
Uncle Sal frets there may be some difficulty getting crown gears for the narrow axles but Big Vinnie has some plans involving shims and Krazy Glue. He also had an idea about going FWD with the Mini-Coopers but the space is a wee bit limited to easily perform that trick with a pickup system in the same vicinity.

Hoos-was not DT, but a DT wannabe. Local outfit; not a chain.
