Hey guys, Thanks for the kind words!
Old Johnny, the materials I used for the track are various.
Most is made with insulation foam 1" and 2" thickness. The entire platform is 2" foam board pieced together. I carved it for rock areas, painted, flocking for grass, lots of other found stuff from coffee and tea grounds/leaves, sticks... There is plaster gauze, cardboard, foam core, acrylic paint, water effects by Woodland Scenics, commercial and home made trees. I try to scrounge as much as possible. I painted the road in some places to give it a stained or dirty effect. Pretty much thin acrylic paint, scrubbed onto the surface. Since it is in the texture of the surface, it stays.
If I get the O scale trains my uncle has been promising, I may end up re-doing the whole layout to incorporate both.
