Thoughts? Around the outside there will be no guard rails. I'll build up to match the road level so cars have no advantage to use the guard rail to stay on the track no matter what lane they are in.
I've also put lane changers prior to every corner so racers can choose which lane to use in every corner and also make if fun for cutting off other racers.

Cool layout. That puts a lot of track in a small space.

Cool concept I'm not up on the digital stuff but it looks like that layout offers a four lane oval in the center lanes. My only concern with it would be which lane was I in when I have to put my car back on the track. I'm very good at finding the limit no matter which car I'm driving

It's a 2 lane track. I plan on doing it with wood even though I did the track plan with sectional track. The very outside curves will be much wider to allow for cars to slide around the curves and not use a guardrail.
I need to figure out exactly how Digital lane change works. I am buying the cheapest set I can find of Carrera D143 so I can dissect it :-)

Interesting layout for a 2 lane track, might be difficult to follow with allot of the lanes following inside of other lanes. Also, you may want to give some thought to run offs! Most 1/43 track has NO allocation for cars running sideways so some approns are a must. Maybe the adjoining track sould serve as a run off, but honestly I think maybe you are trying to fit to much track in a 4" x 8' space!
Designs of this type are real common in 1/32 and larger scales, because the size of those scale forces you to use as much of the available space as possible, BUT the great thing about 1/43 is you don't need to compact the layout nearly so much. Concentrate more on flow and leave yourself plenty of room for scenic items and you will be much happier!

Yeah I'm going to re-do it. My research into how lane changing works will prevent me from making my own wood track.

My son has already built stands out of lego's and put his Lego trains around the outside. He also built a lego start/finish line gate.
