Welcome to the first reports from this years ProNoMag - the proxy race on a wood track.



The Puddle Dude Race Team has to decide which cars will run on the Desmo this year. They have 2 classics on hold, the GT40 did not do really bad in the races of this year, but it could have been better. Using nearly the same construction methods also the Porsche 917 is lightweight and equipped with a 7.5V RS motor. The vac-formed body only held by some short post, the overall weight is very low. Will this help? Some more test laps are needed!



The next cars to be decided between are 2 MCAs, one with a styrene chassis, the other one features a printed chassis. Gearing seems to be longer on the printed chassis. Also the choice is between Ortmann and K&D, but they are quite equal on the track, the one with more grip and harder rip-off when overdriven, there one a little smoother. Both will need a little more tire trueing, there are some split seconds potential left there.



Tsooko´s team Canada is ready for the race. The McLaren has a title to defend - this car is holding the fast lap record on the Desmo. Will this record hold in this race?
The Porsche smoked it´s motor last time, this time the engineers invested some time and weights seems to have gone down. We will see how the ultrawide 917 will handle the scenery in the tight turns.



The third car from Tsooko is a nice Cuda. Based on the SCX compacts, it sits really nice on the track, the race engineers from the other teams only doubt the tire choice - stock tires on a race car? With good and repeated cleaning will see the possibilies in lap times. The last compounds have been not as bad. A little loosening of the tight body screws smoothed the car a little more ...



American Slot Car World entered this nice truck. Carrera Nascar chassis, Ranch-Design guide kit, some nice sticky tires and a SlotCarExpress motor - this car combines goodies from all major 1/43rd suppliers :)
Nice truck featuring a driver figure and a great flame-paint job. Straight line speed is awesome!

another price: 10 pcs. street lights made for 12V. they shine nice, but not for long but really add to the scenery!

Nice to see the field is getting there Peter. I like Chuck's truck. It is veery hard to put realistic flames on a 1/43 scale car. ( I'm trying too. )
The 'cuda is not quite Stock tires. They have 6 or 7 coats of Reo-flex 30 urathane on them and it has one of Slotcar Expresses hot motors in it. I know it won't win, but I hope for a good showing.
The lamp posts look good. They will be a good addition to my yet to built track. TEE, HEE.

The truck is set up for oval racing, so I don't know how it will even negotiate the road course, but it got there! :lol:
The flames are stick on decals.

More arrivals yesterday (T&S, IM) and today (down under)!
The cars got out of the trucks and straight to the track, to test the grip of this tarmac.

Immense Miniature entered a really nice prototype car to this race, awesome chassis construction and a great body. Even with very good packaging, it lost it´s fragile wing and one mirror even before the race. Shall the puddle dude race team mechanics try to fix this issues or shall it run as it is?



T&S raceway send their spearhead of speed to this race - all nice chassis construction on the coupe, tuned up Kyosho chassis under the nice vac-formed Porsche and the 917 features the all new Ranch-Design chassis, with nice SCX-Porsche sized aluminium rims.







Team Retro 143 entered a nice running Porsche and a great retro car, a Mazda RX7. Will the wankel engine be a great plus on the Desmo?





we´re waiting for Team Britain and maybe from an entry from Germany, but this seems more and more impropable.

Team 007 just arrived today and immediately checked track conditions. after some testing laps, grins appeared on the drivers face and they canceled for the rest of day and headed for an adult bevarage ...

Some new prizes arrived for the ProNoMag:

Team Scuderia Turini arrived at the Desmo, some trial laps just before dawn where in on the cleaned track:






Lloyd´s Team classic britain also arrived by TNT today, a little jet lag did not stop them from making themselves a picture of the track conditions.
Guess if the racing reporter had a new beloved car for this race ...











And from Germany, Betz Racing showed up with a beautifull Cobra. The Name is programm, a scratchbuilt brass chassis and a big block are fitted under the nice hood. Tarmac is crying already ...



Also the local team Puddle Dude racing had a final decision on the entered cars: the 2 classics will join the MCA.

This year, the field is really great and so is the list of prices i think!
I will take me some time to get through all those cars.
Short estimation:
22 cars x 2 lanes x (15 laps training + 25 laps race) = 1760 laps
average lap: 10.5 seconds (guessed) makes 308 minutes = more than 5 hours of constant racing. Plus the time for taking notes, setting up the race in the lap timer, taking photos, working on the pics, maybe some short repairs, so multiply by 2.5 (an empirical value) - a great, long day of racing! :)

Please excuse me if i don´t make all the report on Friday (bank holiday in Austria - national holiday) - we´ve been invited to some friends on short notice. I will do my best to finish the whole race this weekend, okay?

I´m looking forward to run all those great cars! I hope i will not get a typewriter´s cramp out of it :lol: :lol: :lol:
