New Minis on the bench - some WIP pics ...

Got these nice castings from 43Motorsports today. A little cleanup later, the mechanics put the nice bodies on the available chassis. I think i will add some fender extensions to the Monaco body and lower this nice body a little. Not sure if i want to lower the Broadspeed, as adding fat arches is not that easy ... what do you think? Lower the Broadspeed or not?

Peter, yes lower a little and flares would look good as well.

Another suggestion; raise the level on the side pans of the chassis a little relative to the center section where the motor/drivetrain is, that way they tuck nicer up inside the body and don't show. That is one thing Carrera do to compensate for their excessive ground clearance and I think it would really help here. Not sure how much CAD work is involved though???

@Mas: raising the level of the center section would create many problems, as the fixing of the motor in the front is in that level. Also, i would like the outcome of raising it - it would raise the center of gravity and the is not good for performance - and performance is what this chassis is created for. The Mini is still a little top heavy - so lowering the body is has to be done - at least for me!

they will all run on the same chassis - PDR mini chassis (flared) - printed by shapeways.
Only the gears will differ and the rims. I got one more set of Ranch-Design custom Mini wheels, but will try some printed wheels, too. I like the Ranch wheels due to the easy assembly, perfect quality and the possibility to add inserts.
Motor is from slotcarsdirect in GB, H0 tyco gears, BSRT gears from Gregory Braun and of course the nice Ranch-Design gears.

Peter those look great with the lowered stance! Sure wish those mini mutant bodies were more available in 1/32! Could be a new market for the 1/43 caster...

I'm building a 1/32 Mini now, which is challenging enough - 1/43 Mini building is anothe league!

instead of working on the old style minis, i fired up the vac-former and did some bodies over the JCW plug ... i´m quite satisfied with the results, i have to say.

I think i will do one vac-formed Mini JCW for the ProNoMag this year :D
tried some thinner plastic for windows on resin copies of the JCW, but strangely, i could not get the cooking plate warm enough to get enough temperature for that stuff (thought that i bought PET-G - but can´t remember). Anyway, the 0,002" PET-G worked great as usual.
