Hey Gang, I have a couple of Fast/sweet running old Mattel-HotWheels brand 1/43 Slot Cars. But the rear tires are bad, and to run them, I keep recoating with silicone.
Anyway, My Question is, where can I get either NOS- OEM Mattel tires, OR direct replacement aftermarket tires either in Silicone OR Urethane, and still retain the Mattel Wheels. I peeled back the tires to see the rims, and their inside flange seems a tad smaller than the Artin "Skinny wheel" inner flanges. I measured the outside wheel edge (O.D.) of the rims and they are the both the same dia, but the Mattel inward wheel boss seems a tad bit larger dia (.247") than does the Artin (Skinny Wheel) axle boss(.226") .

I think Artin Skinny Tires will fit the rims, although the inward chassis hole of the Mattel Tire is a Tad *larger dia, but I should be able to enlarge that.

check with Ranch Design. I think he still makes Artin replacements.

Okay, so Ranch Design (TPART2) is probably the Artin Polyurethane tire I want that will fit ?

good luck finding them :lol: I liked the rims but could never find enough tires for them! actualy I liked the body better than the Artin body,so I rigged an ARTIN CHASSIS under it

@OlMike: Why should one buy a whole car when he only needs tires??? Are you a TRU sales represantive?

@Ralph - you are right, there is a difference between the Artin and the Mattel wheel. It is the same difference from the "old style narrow artin" wheel to the "new style narrow" artin wheel.
If i´m right, Steve got the tires for the "new style", but if you glue the tires to the rims, these tires also fit the "old style" rims.
The only other source for tires is CarGo in Germany, if has not got molds for the old style tires, he can do them, but he will need good masters to cast from, which could be a difficult job?

@ Peter Fast Lane can be good source car here in US when cannot fine parts for your Artin brushes to motor ITS like a tune up kit I have a number times used the car when I needed to put new motor in a Artin that FAST LANE Has came to rescue they can handle up 14 voltes the some fine people clame that they are made by Artin . if so then don’t you think they might be a helpful source in your quest for fun you get two in pak they are on sale

the design of the product expects the user to lose interest in it before the tires need replacement. you obviously don't want to buy a new car simply for the tires and i don't blame you. you can learn to make your own but the urethane and silicon mold kits require serious investments. again too much expense. find your self a very thin sheet of rubber. measure the circumference of the tire and cut a piece of rubber the same width and length of the tire. use ca glue. i would sand the silicon off and maybe some of the old rubber so the tire will fit under the fender. you will have a dependable tire replacement. in the 70" when slot racing was dead guys used rubber bands. i am sure if you look around you will find something that will do the job.

I fix this hot wheels in about ten minute put new motor and wheels , brushes this is hot wheels this is a fast lane , fast lane dose work
