Denizen Miniatures has great 1/43rd scale figures, but they are quite expensive. Bachman had a variety of O gauge figures.

Preiser makes some (not super expensive) 1/43 figures are also available in bulk off epay (CHEAP) O-scale train figures are very easy to get and the scale (1/48ish is more then OK, because they tend to be slightly oversize anyway. (look for Bachman, k-line or Model Power brands)
Then there's Marc & Immense Miniatures! His work is top notch at any price! ;)
See there, more choices then you can shake a stick at! :music-rockout:

E-Bay is a good source for spectators. $12 for 50 unpainted a few years ago.

As Mas said Immense Miniature has a selection of very detailed drivers. Worth every penny. This picture does not do justice to the details.

The figure OlMike presented is a nice example for the good applicability of pewter for casting.
Most of my figures are cast from pewter, too. Not my idea, but excellent. Saves resin, is really durable, easy to work on.
And since pewter is a bit heavier they stand better ;)
