Sprite proxy build

Hi Folks, I have finished and tested my chassis for this proxy, and I am quite pleased with its performance. I am having some issues with postimage (my new picture host).....so, the only pics. I have are of the bare chassis. Hopefully postimage gets sorted soon, and I can post some more shots.

Anyway, here is the bare chassis, and the body (still deciding on a livery) sitting on the finished wheels/tires.

In stock form, the Slot-it pod is a touch too wide for the little Sprite, (even with the narrow wheels/tires) so, the bushing housing extensions on the Slot-it pod were cut off (saved almost 3/16ths), the holes reamed, and some oilites installed.........it is now narrow enough, and smoother/more precise than stock.



Straightforward design.......with skinny tires, narrow track, and low powered motors, as long as the chassis is flat and square, most any design will work well,



Not decided on the livery yet....something to compliment white minilites.

Very nice indeed. I may have to borrow the narrowing idea. I never thought of cutting off the bushing holders. 3/16's is a lot of width on a small car. Sometimes you just have to think outside the box.

Beautiful as usual Chris. Well I hope you are correct as I am using the SCC plastic adjustable chassis as a base.

Hi Chris. I am doing great for an old guy. Hope you are too.
We are still racing every week. This Sprite Proxy is fun. Two of the guys are building their first scratch built so every week there is some discussion.

Chris - Great chassis and photos: it must be really cold where you live, posing the cars on ice looks really “cool” :roll: :dance:

Some tech questions:

Main rails, .047 or .063 or...?
Did you design for flex or twist, or keep it rigid and let the pod do the work?
How did you get that shine? Tumbled or polishing wheel?
How do you keep that shine? Any clear coat?
