Alternate tire option for the foam lovers.

There has been some talk of saving the foam tires that come on the H&R Chassis. My suggestion to those who want to re use the foams after the race, would be to leave the foams on the front (I would re profile them) and use the PGT that SCC offers, as a direct replacement for the silicones that come on the chassis. they are 12x 27 mm and are for the ribbed wheel. I like a taller tire, but they will work just fine. here is the link.

Bob another option i have been using for a number of years is recapping the foam tires with urethane. It only requires a U shaped cap and gives grip of urethane with compression of foam.

We used to chuck an axle in a slow drill press and spread black silicone seal on the foam with a piece of glass. After 3 or 4 hard races, it would start to peel, and you could peel it off and do it again brand new in 5 minutes (plus drying time).

I tried it with urethane seal (for fixing leaking hip waders and other rubber boots), and it just doesn't come out well. Too much bother when there are people who make excellent urethane tires.
