Pony Entry! WIP

Work in progress! :)

Have had this nice Mustang built for me few years back one of the greatest slot car builders in our hobby. I chose it as it fit the proxy and just needed some updating.

Image

I will be changing to the SCC Steely wheels for this car. They used those too, and it looks great on this old horse.

I already posted the videos, but real quick is just a simple glue on procedure. Hansens hard as nails for both the old foams and rear urethanes.

Image

Image

Once dry it's off to the Tire Razor for a quick true.

Image

For the foams and the start of the PG tires, I used 600 grit.

Image

I finished the PG tires with 2000 grit.

Image

So here is my setup. Old foams in front on CB Steelys, and fresh PG on the rear.

More to come as I fire up the Ye Olde Forge and beat this chassis into a semi-straight shape! (We raced them hard around here!)

Great looking car Harry! That yellow really pops. So cool to have one of the original Trans Am cars in this race.

Hey I know that car! Ok I'm officially in and will build a Camaro to run against the Mustang. Not that I have much change against the man.

There he is boys! THE builder! :auto-checkeredflag:

Now look out, he's a ringer. Looks like I'll be even more of a back marker now.

This is the “Pro” version. It’s a single fixed axle system with the axle being a 3/32 - 1/8 combination. 3/32 on the far end and enlarges to 1/8. Designed for all the CB Design/aluminum set screw wheels we use.

Thanks guys.

Again, not the way everyone approaches body mounting. Just easy for me.

If you place the body over the chassis and shim it, you KNOW EXACTLY the stance and height. Plus, when you drop your pans in, they match up with your chassis tabs perfectly. So when it comes time to loosen things up for float, there is no binding.

Anyway, thanks and hope it helps a few.

I definitely like your way of setting the stance and ride height!
Great tutorial Harry!

Well it's finished. This old warrior won't win any concours thanks to hard racing over this many years, but it's in the race and that was the goal.

Image

First a Kudo to the UV adhesive. I tell ya boys, there isn't a better adhesive for glass/interior trays, etc.

Image

Mods to the chassis: Had to make a new brace for the JAWS motors and align the rear and front axle. My own doing as the motor swap caused the work.

Image

Only the unused front axle placements and excess side pan material removed. None of which makes it any better than a stock.

Image

It's not that light. I added lead strips as you can see in other photos. Until you have raced these in anger, you cannot appreciate the added weight where it counts.

So it is off to Georgia to be a Peach or a Pit. I'm leaning toward pittage.
