Is anyone printing 3d Wheels or inserts or that might be willing to share some STL files?

There are a couple of "Scalextric" wheels up on Thingiverse.
They're actually amazingly round. However they are "press on" and given that PLA doesn't flex much, they basically become glue-on wheels.
I have a pair on a Fly Ferrari 512 and it runs quite well, but I had to rough up the axle to give the glue some bite.

I have been toying with the idea but don't really have a workable wheel yet.....but would love to hear from others.

Inserts on the other hand, are pretty easy from any wheel you want, although I have had trouble with the BBS style printing well.

I think someone had printed plastic wheels with holes for grub screws like slot it uses but I can't remember who made them.

I would be interested in the file.

I have made my own wheels with holes for screws but they don't hold. I considered a tap but didn't know how PLA would work with that.
I haven't tried threaded holes (haven't figured out printing threads yet) or using inserts (dunno if they will hold or unbalance things).

I also have a file for 5 spoke mag wheel inserts that I can post later, but you can find the wheels on Thingiverse and trim them down for inserts using Tinkercad (that's all I did).

I have been trying to get a workable 3D printed plastic wheel.....a deep mag like that prints well enough but getting it to repeatedly fit the axle.....
Got a couple ideas to try yet, though.

I have an SRC Porsche 907 body under which I have a CG 3D chassis, Slot.it pod, running gear and CB Design wheels. I needed some period correct inserts but didn't have any extra wheels that I could turn down. A quick search of the internets was not very fruitful, so, off to TinkerCADland I went... et voila...

I think it looks pretty good for 1/2 an hour or so on TinkerCAD.

I just updated the STL file with a version that has a slightly thinner wall and more pronounced wheel nut. Files available on Thingiverse. https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3478925/files

I've had some pretty good luck with some wheels I printed for the ol'truck. The wheels have held up pretty good with the grandkids but it has a double reduction drive and puts in a lap speed of 70 mph. I modeled the wheels both single and duallys that use the 2mm set screw and so far they are holding on good. I used the ABS filament when I printed them out.

I did give them a clear coat of paint before putting them into service. I haven't tried any others since.

HO size?!? WOW! that is getting down to some pretty fine detail!

UPDATE - P907 12mm Inserts

I went back to the drawing board, as they say, and sourced some historical pictures to get a better idea of just how the real wheels looked. I was slightly surprised to see that the spokes were not two rectangles stacked on top of one another (like Fly has been using on all their slot cars) but basically each spoke is, cross-sectionally, a trapezoid shaped tapered box that is larger at the hub than at the rim.

Fly, FlySlot, SRC and all their variants are wrong. Version 3 is very much like the real thing.

They are 12mm diameter and fit CB Design wheels.If you need them bigger or smaller just scale them in your slicer software.
