I need input.
I have a 1:32 die cast Batmobile. It is quite detailed. I've had it for several years thinking about casting a body.
If I get a 3D printer, is there a service to scan the model?
If anyone wants to do it, I will donate the original for the scan.

Hi Franc9129,

May not need a scan, nearly every Batmobile has been drawn in 3D to a decent quality and plastered on the net.
Which model were you after, TV series, Cartoons?

Cheers

Scan quality won't be that good. I have high resolution professional scans of a full-sized race car that was virtually worthless in it's original form. I had to redraw the cobra from scratch to get a smooth and printable model. Faster and more accurate than trying to repair the scanned mesh.

There are many sites that offer free 3D models - you likely can get a decent enough one for free. Or you can buy high-quality expertly modeled cars from sites like TurboSquid. Search around, you're sure to find what you're looking for - in far better quality than you can scan.
