Tomy AFX Electronic Control System

Hey guys,
I bought one of these on eBay from Australia. It didn't work (despite the seller's assurance) so I cleaned the battery terminals with white vinegar and put in fresh batteries. It works sometimes, if I fiddle with it, but it's inconsistent. Do you think it's the battery terminals or a bigger problem? Also, if any of you have one of these, you know theres an input for for a wall plug. What kind do I need?

i am not an electrician either but it is easy to do one side positive and the other negative, just make sure to put on the right place
