By now, All of you are sick of seeing these cars I am sure! But I had to share this one anyway. It is quickly becoming one of my favorites, if that's possible? I like them all. I went for a Polished Aluminum look on this one, as seen on The Caruso car from the early 50's, and others also. I used ACE brand Chrome/aluminum, to get the effect, and used Future to keep from dulling the shine, and to seal the decals. Working with a bigger scale like this, opens up a few opportunity's that I am happy to take advantage off. Like Decals that are not available for other scales. The Flying A decals used on this one, came from our model railroading friends. They are HO scale Service station units. The rest of the build is pretty much spec for my track. 2mm brass rod chassis, Hawk motor, 9/31 gears, cut down H&R wheels, running urethane tires from SGD. Parma guide, big mama braid.
And of course the Monogram P1 midget kit in 1/18 scale. I did another little trick on this one that I had done before. I cut the driver figure in many pieces, and worked him over to get a more aggressive driving stance. It comes out similar to the Hotshot driver, just a little older version. Still have the engine to do up yet, and all the small stuff, but once I get this far, its time to share. Hope you all can sit through another Big Midget build from Crossroads Speedway!
