Any Opinions on AMT Slot Car Kits?

There is no easy replacement for it, because of the width between the axle area, and the placement of the motor. A after market crown has a shoulder on the back side that prevents the the motor shaft from clearing the gear. I suppose you could turn down the shoulder if you have the means. These chassis take a bit of scratch work to be consistant runners.

I've used Parma "pink" gears for my builds.
Before I found this site, I posted a couple builds of these I did here:

I've had a lot of fun with them and there is a lot of detail as to mods done, etc in that whole posting - hopefully it can be of use to those playing with their new acquisitions! :D

And I never thought about an offset motor... I guess once the stock mount is out of the way, anything goes!

It really does resemble a Javelin up front. I never noticed that. I didn't take a detailed look at it because my skills are dwarfed beside Mark's. I just thought it looked cool.

Here is the upgrade kit from AMT, but even with the discount your spending about the price of the kit. Not worth it to myself. Much better performers if you just start from scratch. And at the ollies price very worth while.
