Just curious if any 1/24 cars use a motor with a round can design. I have a bunch of motors that are the equivalent to 18D motors but have round cans.

I have not seen a 1/24th slot car with a round can motor since the Globe motors that were sometimes used in the mid '60s. I still have a Globe motor, it has ballbearings and shunted motor brushes.

There was also Wilson's of Cleveland, a Florida company, that sold a variety of round motors & their chassis. These are ancient items too. I have a motor in nice shape but haven't seen their chassis. Carlos, what are the round motors you have?

The motors are roughly the same size as the flat can motors, but more close in size to the Globe motors, almost exactly the same dimensions. I'm going to attempt to attach a couple pictures:

Carlos, the photo posted good. I'm not aware of a 1/24 chassis where these motors would be a "bolt-in" item. On the other hand, you could scratchbuild a chassis from brass, plastic, or even wood to fit these motors. Before doing so, you would want to know their voltage & RPMs to determine if they would work on the tracks you plan to run them on. Have you seen anyone else use these particular motors for slot cars?

I think that I still have a Dynamic chassis that was made for the Globe motor.

There used to be a Portland, OR area club (NASTE) that ran several hard body classes using scratchbuilt brass chassis with round motors they bought at Radio Shack. They still have a web site, but I no longer found any photos of these cars. IIRC they used ground down RC airplane tires to provide the needed chassis clearance.

I wish I were artistic and/or technically savvy enough to build a custom chassis for these motors. They perform really well under bench tests, very similar to the RMS motor, which is the tuning motor for Carrera 1/24 cars. These motors were ordered by specification as flat can 18D motors, but the factory mistakenly sent me round can motors instead of the flat can motors I ordered. But good thing is they perform like the spec sheet said when tested on the bench. I can only perform no load tests as I don't have the ability to test for torque. But the motor is off the shelf so the specs are pretty close to to the RMS motor in performance:
VOLTS - RPM
3V 6900
4.5V 9800
6V 12280
7.2V 15290
9V 18300
12V 22850
15V 27000
18V 29500
