Started talking about building this car about a year ago.

built one frame and did not like it, so I scrapped it

tonight I just finished the chassis for the Hairy Hurst Olds with twin H&R 40K motors front and back
H&R pinion and gears and a H&R guide the bearings I got on line
The tires are from Paul Gage on H&R wheels
the rest I built

I was afraid that the front wheels pulling would be bad but it runs great, the back is loose and the front pulls it out of power slides, this just might be a oval track racer

I did get all my honey-dos done and had time to prime, paint and mess up the 34 Ford dirt track,its stripping, going to start painting my RMS cougar,drove it around the track and wired the 34 Chassis and ran a few laps with it.

It looks great. What I was always afraid of is one motor start to go bad and begin to work against the other motor that is still at full power. I'm interested to see how it works out over time.

Wait a minutes! Jon, that was a drag car! Now you have to rout a 55 foot long drag strip!

Yep it was a drag car, they built 2 of them. the 425 engine up front and the rear motor trying to lift the front end made this car very tough to keep straight, that and the tire smoke made it hard to see, it was driven by a few guys but the most popular was Gentleman Joe Schubeck, his fire suit was cut like a tuxedo, , he invented a bell housing for drag racing that has been used for over fifty years, it keeps the flywheel from chopping you up or fling out in the crowd when the clutch blows, he was just put into the drag racing hall of fame, and he hung out with Linda Vaughn, he was very cool

Joe Schubeck started Lakewood Industries, and his bellhousings, or scattershields, have been in use ever since.

I remember the photos with tires smoke almost completely obscuring that thing. I forgot all about the tuxedo flame suit. Here's my favorite pic of Linda Vaughn

Wow she's got some big hair. Love the car and the idea. I have been thinking about building Tommy Ivo's
"Show Boat" for years but have no drag strip close in 1/24 scale. The model kits are out there. Keep us posted
