Carrera sprung front axle

Finally got around to unboxing a Ferrari 330 P4.
Having only dealt with later production cars, I was a bit shocked with the sprung front axle - the car looks like a drag car on takeoff.
Does anyone have a fix to take the spring out?
Quick and easy appears to be gluing a piece of plastic under the bushing to force the axle up.
Other ideas?

My #24 P330 is hard to beat when we race these. Only mod I have made change to urethane tyres. I can't recall if they are my own copies of the originals or from Paul Gage.

Does it make a difference in performance? (looking for that extra 2/10ths of a second :))

Oops. I forgot to call Bruce today.
One of the AZGR guys said he drills and taps a hole beneath the bushing, then uses an M2 set screw to push the bushing up.
I don't know about improving performance, but it has to improve the looks.
As stock, the nose is very high in the air. Looks much better with the spring out.

Obviously if you're in a racing group, every little bit helps. Do you want to race or win? The best part about Carrera car is that the tunes needed cost you virtually nothing!

Well I pulled mine apart and it looks like the person I got it off removed the springs - there is a little bit of up and down slop in the axle so I will investigate a way to remove that. I will attack my GT40s next.
Do the 917k and 512s have this - it didn't feel like they did.
cheers
David
