Old Merit kits

Hi,
does anyone motorise the old Merit kits? Some were also sold as SMER and I believe the Lindberg D type was one of theirs.
I once modified the D-type into an accurate model and got a few resin casts off the pattern, then the whole project was sent back to me, by the guy I did it all for as he was allergic to the resin!, so I have a big heavy box of short nose D-Type bits, moulds, etc.
I also have a resin re-pop of their Lotus 11, which is due for a rework to better accuracy. My son restored an original one and has piles of photos to help.
Just wondered if people still motorize old kits any more.

Martin check out the site at Penelope pitlane, they do some older styles and make chassiss specifically
For them. I suppose there is a market for this era, just not sure how big.

Thanks, Bob, but PP is already a favoured place of mine. I get Steve Ward's wheels and tyres and have done him a few masters and wheel inserts. That's business, but I was referring to the more hobby side of simply grabbing an old kit off ebay or wherever and making a slot car out of it. So far we have Lancia Ferrari, D-type Jag, Alfa 158 and Lotus XI from the Merit range and a GT6 Mk II from Lindberg, plus many more recent 24ths. My son couldn't see the point of making all his old plastic kits as "dust traps" so has been working his way through them.

Forgot to mention that I will be using all Penelope Pitlane underpinnings on my Guild Master Models 1/32nd scale first slot car release, the Jaguar XJ13. It will have a PP anglewinder metal chassis allowing for a full cockpit and a fair bit of engine detail beneath the rear window. PP wheels and tyres too.
The PP chassis has already won races.

Oh that looks good! I love the 250F. I'll have to try getting one for my son as he used to restore real old Maseratis including several 250Fs and knows them inside out. I have a Merit Lancia D50.

Tyres are a bit fat lads! But I love the scratchbuilt chassis idea. Could never happen over here as the clubs are all too scared to stray away from the RTR plastic stuff, which I can't afford. Wouldn't use them even if I could!

My son and I love the vintage stuff. We have some Parma home set cars we could strip for bits! Very rare in Britain. Good luck with those.
