I never do it, and I know better. I used Duplicolor clear over my polished and perfected Tamiya lacquer and decals. It wasn't labelled "dull coat" and sure enough, it didn't dull the chrome at all. But it frosted the windows, dulled everything uniformly, and the largest decal crackled so badly that it fragmented into 18 parts. That's why you can see blobs of blue paint on the hood. They fill in the gaps.
Worst of all, the car runs like the wind. Its fast, handles great, and I can't just toss the body. The body is the balance, I think. No weight needed, no nothing. It just flies down the track. There's no way I'm not going to race this thing. But trust me- it was gorgeous.

I can't believe it. The car had to be thoroughly washed and rinsed to get the remaining oil residue from the Duplicolor off it, but two coats of future later, it actually has enough shine to pass muster. New windows by Coca-Cola bottle, with painted on details for braces, etc.
