i see that Scaleauto sells home set 1/24 scale cars now with a plastic chassis and plastic wheels. anyone try one yet? I have a Carrera track and the standard issue cars work great with aftermarket rear tires, but if I can buy the new home set cars for only $80 and get similar performance on my home track than I will go that route.

If you look in the Cloverleaf Racing Forum you’ll see they are racing these cars. Drop a PM to Wicked Mini for info on the cars.

Actually I'm surprised that Mike hasn't chimed in or anyone else for that matter. These apparently aren't getting much ink as there is little wrote about them.

I’d like to buy a running chassis for model conversion but all I see are complete cars and bare chassis.

Dang, $80 for a Scaleauto, I’ll be following this for sure. You’d think you’d have heard all about this.

Good cars in general. The motor mount is fixed relative to the axle so changing gear ratio will be a challenge. If you want to run stock with just a change of rear tires they are a lot of fun to drive. I don't know which models come with which motor, but I've heard from many that there are two different motors that could be under the hood.

My question is:
Are these capable of accepting Carrera or Scaley digital chips?

my metal chassis Scaleauto cars with slip on urethanes on the rear wheels are fantastic on my Carrera track compared to BRM. For $80 it seems like a bargain if you want plastic gears, chassis, wheels. And then you have to start upgrades. For $160 I just need slip on rear tires for the home track and foam rears for the commercial track. Maybe i'll try one and see.
