I got this Dusenburg from Ebay for $20, it was the yellow model kit, made with same molds as the blue slot car Monogram offered in 63. I have some resin mounts copied from an original body. Not really a racing car and I didn't bother with a motor. I have the other big Monogram cars and figured if I could do it cheap I should build a Dusey. Something different and kind of hard for me to do a good modeling job on these kind of kits. It has a few missing parts, but that's Ok. If I was a great modeler, I would have bought an un-built kit, instead of a glue bomb.

That's pretty cool! One of the early Monogram cars, and a tough one to find in any shape. Very nicely done!

Paul, it's actually just the old model kit from 10-20 years ago. The molds for the models are the same as the old slot car, so it is all pretty much the same. Just something to look shiny on the shelf anyway!!!

Back in the '60's was familiar with Mongram's Mercedes 540K model/slot car. Never understood why Monogram didn't make a race car from that era. Lindberg however made a nice 1/24th scale static model of the 1928-32 Mercedes SSK designed by Ferdinand Porsche and frequently raced then. Rudy Caracciola drove one to 2nd at the 1932 Monaco Gran Prix. Never bothered with Lindberg until about 12 years ago when I used the Lindberg body to put together a slot car replicating a notable car from an era 85 years ago. Scratch built chassis w/Parma 16D. Pro-track tires. Didn't take long to knock the Tri-star emblem off the radiator.
