1/24th Carrera Ferrari 458

Postby Slotmanmoss » Wed Mar 27, 2013 11:04 am

Posted this in the other fourm. As some here don't go there will post here also>

Wanted a 1/24th Ferrari 458 to run against my Falken Tire and Flying Lizard Porsches, Corvette, Ferrari 575 etc without swapping motors etc on all of the cars. The body is a Revell Ferrari 458 Italia. I used a Corvette chassis with ortman's on the rear and the corvette wing. (what is the best method to strip the wing)? I run these cars with all magnuts removed except for 1 magnut centered in the forward position and run them on 15volts. Am currently using the H&R body mounts after using the nibbler to cut to size and stuck down with servo tape to the chassis. May add post to body later. As can be seen by the pictures have not painted & decaled body yet. Wanted to see if it would work. The Corvette wheelbase is almost spot on.

Haven't checked yet to see if patto's has decals to do the Daytona GT car. May do the one they took down there when they announced they were going to run in the series. Have quite a few shots of it. It has a black roof with Motorola decal in middle of top.

Forgot to mention I had to trim the undertray downforce device (Can't think of name, guess going senile) as it was to long for the Ferrari.

I have been wanting to try this body on a Carrera chassis, but for some reason all model kits want to fit that Corvette chassis. I am going to put this on my to do list for sure. At the moment I've only got 1 Corvette chassis left and I have a 1/24 Resin Lotus Evora body to mount on it so I'll put the Ferrari on the back burner for now, though. The way I would strip the wing would be a bath of 91% Alcohol.

Got it primed last week toward the end of the week, hopefully will get it painted next week. Has been fairly rainy here and I don't paint when it is raining as I paint outside. Wing stripped great using the 91% alcohol. The proper wheels would be the ones on the Carrera porsches. Do not see them for sale at any of the vendors. Is carrera going to sale them seperately as they did the previous cars?
