Not sure if this is the best spot to post this - but received an email from AutoWorld and it looks as though they are liquidating their AMT Slot Star kits (both 1/24 and 1/32 Polar Lights ones) at $14.99 each!
Thought that there might be others here interested in this as well. :)

Are they worth $14.99?
I thought a bunch of you commented that these chassis had issues awhile back?
Just curious since I have never owned any of these yet.
Will they run with scaley sport wall packs for power with the motors in the kits or do they need more voltage?
Thanks!

Buy them for the partial model kit only. By the time you change the wheels, tires, motor, axles and guide you have changed almost everything. One of the better things in the kit is the decals! Now that I have said that, the bunch I run with had fun beating these around the track. But it took a lot of spare parts to make them fun.

As mentioned the "slot car" part needs a LOT of work.
But a kit is worth 15 bucks alone.
And if you are good you can scratchwork the chassis to make it actually run.

I was told buy one of my customers (I couldn't get away from my own vendor booth) that someone was selling these AMT 1/25 slot car kits
at the NNL EAST model car show in Wayne, NJ (4/26) for $19.95. At that price, I would have picked up one just to play around with.
It seems to me that Auto World has nothing left in stock, according to the store website.
All I saw there was an $11.99 parts kit for the 1/25 cars and a 1/32 Batmobile slot car kit for $49.99.
Guess everything 1/25 is already gone. For twenty bucks, yeah, the 1/25 kit might be worth the trouble, but not at the original list price of sixty!
I know some of the retail hobby stores here on Long Island still have kits in stock, I'll have to check to see if they've been marked down (I doubt it!).
I wonder if Auto World is going to retool and try again. Let's hope they do!

PS -- Oh yeah, I forgot to mention...
That Mustang IS awesome! Very nicely done, Mark Thomas. I like the left side motor mount and exhaust pipe detail.
This FORD guy is smiling! Thanks for posting the photo, Harry!
