I built an adjustable inline chassis out of square brass tubing. It has a weighted drop arm and a adjustable floating pod. Wanting to build as much as this as possible I made my own motor mount, as well as made my own crown gear. Using inexpensive nylon gears bored out to accept aluminium tube which is inserted through a bored collar to accept the aluminium tube. I drill out the grub screw hole in through the aluminum sleeve so the set screw can be used to fix the gar to the axle. Using a Patto's Little Ripper (33k) and some NSR ultra grips I set about doing some testing. On my home track 8/32 ratio seems to give me the best lap times as the brakes are better and acceleration quicker. Not sure how this ratio would work on the bigger wood tracks. However this motor has a little bit of ON off type characteristics, so the bigger crown seems to smooth it out.
Bottom line is I met the laptimes of the tuned Avant, so this chassis may be used for this event. With so much time to go, there most likely will be more chassis built and tried. God Lord knows I don't enter because I think I am going to win, but the building is fun. So the more I can do before the car is mailed of the more satisfaction I get out of the event.

If anyone who has run this event wants to comment of the best gear ratio to use for success, I sure would like to hear about it.
Thanks
