I also purchased a DArt Ferrari 612 kit for the proxy, and am finding the 62mm rear track limit to be too narrow for an accurate build. The DArt body width is 70mm across the rear wheel arches, which is exactly correct for 1/32 scale. So a 62mm rear track (to outer sidewalls) is going to look wrong. I checked the specs, drawings and photos I could find online, and it seems that these cars ran with a rear track of about 2050mm, which translates to 64mm. Any chance we can revisit the 62mm limit? I don't think the Ferrari was considered when this limit was selected.

Hi Brian, We had a lot of discussion about max rear width (check back in the early pages of this thread) and the consensus was that we didn't want to go wider than 62mm for this series.

A check of Hornby Chaparral and a Slot it McLaren Mk 8D, they are respectively 56mm and 61mm and they meet the defined regs for this event. I just received a Dart McLaren M12 in which the rear track width is 63.5mm so much the. funds expended as well as the months' delay in receiving this 1/32 kit.

hi Duke. The Ferrari.com site list the 612 rear track (center to center of treads) as 1590mm. The 612 ran a 15.5" section rear tire which translates to 394mm tire width. So the width outer sidewall to outer sidewall at the back would be 1590 + 394 = 1984mm; divide by 32 gives 62mm for a 1/32 scale width between the rear sidewalls. The 1/32 scale length and width should be 131.25mm and 70mm respectively, looking at the 3 view drawing, there appears to be quite a bit of overhang beyond the tires at the rear.

After further research, now I'm not sure whether the 1550 in the tire size (600/1550x15) refers to tread width or section width. I can't find any detailed info about period tire dimensions, but I did find some info on currently available Hoosier Can-Am tires. This leads me to believe that the 1550 probably refers to tread width, with the section width probably being closer to 18". This would be consistent with what I am seeing in photos and drawings. In any case, I will work with 62mm as the rules state.

Can anyone tell me whether the 600 in the tire size refers to the height of the tire? So the outer diameter of the tire would be 27" (21.4mm)?
