Starting my Can Am car late..... I was thinking to save time and energy to use some hubs/rubber tires I have set up already and then I just reread the rules and I see this:

"Wheels must have period inserts or look reasonably period for the car - no BBS or blank aluminum insert wheels please"

No blank aluminum insert wheels. Are other aluminum wheels allowed other than blank aluminum insert wheels? I only see the mention of blank aluminum wheels. But rereading the rules I think if I understand the spirit of the rules is you want the wheels to look period correct we should be using the proper inserts.

I have all the proper inserts and can build new blank aluminum wheel hubs with inserts to be compliant with the proxy rules. I do like the way these cars look with the proper hub inserts versus the various high end non blank aluminum hubs.

Example of aluminum wheels I had already built from various cars. I think I know your answer but if you can clarify these hubs are or are not allowed . Very much appreciated.

Hi Rob, The CBD 5-spoke (racing or classic) wheels are close enough to period to be acceptable for this CanAm proxy. There area also a number of inserts available from designers/suppliers like CG Slotcars, that can turn almost any wheel into a period correct CanAm wheel. So, the aftermarket aluminum wheels are fine, as long as they look reasonably period for the years that this proxy includes.
