2019 Can-Am Proxy - Rules & Registration Thread

Hi Chris, No problem with clarification questions on my end; in fact, as you know, I'm a frequent asker.

I not really familiar with the Betta & Classics line of bodies. From what I read; I've never actually seen one of their bodies, it looks like they come in lightweight clear polycarbonate or whitecard plastics. I would tend to think of these as super-light bodies and, as such, they don't really fit the spirit of the body composition or the detail scale appearance that I had envisioned for this proxy. I agree, they do have a nice selection of Can-Am cars, but when I posted injection molded in the Rules section, I was not thinking of the ultralight clear shell type of body. So, unless I'm missing something here, which is entirely possible, the Beta and Classics polycarbonate bodies would not be eligible for this proxy.

I have built up several cars from Betta & Classic shells. Though Betta offers a line of clear vacuformed shells, the "Classic" line has always been molded from fiberglass resin. They are opaque, white in color, and often a bit crude compared to modern resin castings. However, they are relatively cheap and with a bit of work can be finished to a high standard.

I can’t even begin to tell you how many proxy cars I have built over the years. In most cases it means building a new one for the next proxy or the change in rules. This is another case where to be competitive it is going to take building a new car. I’m ok with that !

Thought I would enter a Alfa, but see they don’t make the grade. I have repowered my Ferrari 350, and have a McClaren M 6 I started working on, so will have a couple of options.

Thanks Christian. I'll start up a tracks thread next week and I'll put you down for one of the Rounds.

This year we're going 10 races instead of 8, so I'll be looking for 5 in the US and 5 in Canada.
