Dan, it's not a whole lot different setting up a drag car than a road racing car unless you're adding a drop arm. Even then, the basic tricks apply. Biggest thing is make sure the guide is straight, not crooked so it rubs the side of the slot.
For the 1st race at Todd's, 1/32 cars should plan on using a low gear ratio somewhere around (2.50-2.80 to 1) if using tires around .9" tall. This is based on the top cars from a couple years back.
