vintage HO scratchbuild

Postby VTECFOUR » Wed Jul 01, 2015 10:42 am

Was sorting out stuff and found one of my brother's scratchbuild cars from so long ago.

Looks like a Lancer 917 body on top of a brass chassis with AJ`s and TycoPro parts.

Must be 40 - 45 years old now. I think it was inspired by a Car Model magazine how-to article.

I`ll see if I can get it running.

Fond memories of simpler times.

That's cool Dan. Seems like I vaguely remember that article. Anxious to here how it runs. Hillbilly

Yoo hoo!

I found my well worn Car Model magazine, August 1970, featuring Tom Malone's "How To Build An HO Anglewinder" article.

Glad to see this stirs good memories for others too.

Just saying, if you Google that article, you can find the whole thing.

There is just something slick about having an article from 45 years ago found and referenced in this thread. :)

Dan, very cool that you discovered this car, and in such good condition! It's an absolute period piece, what with the parts used, and the magazine article now recovered, too. When you are working on getting this vintage racer back into track shape, if you have a problem with the pickup wipers or getting replacements, you can try using a thin braid (like solder wick) over them to provide good contact. It was a modification used back in the day, too, so it'll fit right in with the restoration project.
Looking forward to seeing how you make out with resurrecting this cool racer from your past.
Gook luck and... ENJOY! -- Ernie :>)
