AFX Mega G. C&R decals. I used black electrical tape for the windows & then gave it a coat of floor wax.

Really great work! This will look terrific on AFX Speedway.

Good tip on using electrical tape for the windows. C&R also has a "Window Template" decal for the Porsche 956 (also includes Ford Mk II, Jaguar XJR-9, and Cobra Daytona). It's C&R070, but I don't see it listed on the C&R website yet.

Cheers,

I used their decal as a pattern for cutting the tape. Actually, I made a Xerox copy of the window decal & then used that. I put a piece of the tape down on a sheet of clean styrene, taped the window pattern over that w/clear pvc tape, and then carefully cut it out using a hobby knife with a new blade. It took 2 or 3 tries but still only took 10 minutes from start to finish to get three windows that looked good.

Thanks for sharing your window technique! I hate masking windows . . . and the results are inevitably disappointing. I have a stack of unpainted 956 bodies, and can foresee a production line for electrical tape windows in my future.

By the way, what color and brand of paint did you use for the Camel yellow? It's rich and deep yellow, like the 1:1 cars.

Thanks,

Thanks. I also used the Mop & Glo right over the tape. 2 or 3 coats. When appling the tape it will take you a couple of tries to get it to lie flat & be placed just right. Still though, it looks better than paint IMO.

I used Rustoleum Ultra Cover Marigold (gloss)

Thanks for the tip on paint . . . so no rust on the plastic with Rustoleum, right? <g>
