Great night of racing at Palmer Beach / The Sand Pit!

APalmer invited a bunch of us down for an afternoon filled with good food, good times and great racing yesterday!

Action kicked off with an IROC race on the Palmer Beach road course!



The cars used for the IROC were a set of the new DASH t-jet IROC color matched chassis with Model Motoring color coordinated Mustang drop top bodies! The chassis were run using the factory wheels and rubber tires and were run at 12volts. There was a lot of great door to door action with plenty of tail out drifting in the corners as the drivers pushed these little pony cars for all they were worth! To say that these were a hoot to run would be an understatement! :D

When action stopped there were some definite close calls for position!



I expect these DASH IROC cars are going to be a steady fixture in the class rotation based on fun factor!

The next class to hit the road course was Stock Aurora Tjets!

Slot Therapist with his white Karmann Ghia


Z-carfan and his bright red Ferrari Dino

While the lap totals may not show it - there was some good cat and mouse racing in this class (usually right up until someone pushed just a "fuzz" to hard and lost it!) Z-car fan put his freshly resurrected, used car lot find Dino through its paces while I tried to find a way to put down the Chevelle's power on a set of unprepped rear tires that preferred to act more like they belonged in a burnout contest than on a road course! Steve's step side Ford was definitely hauling! Try as we might though, none of us could quite hang with APalmer's Fairlane or Slot Therapist's Karmann Ghia for more than a lap or so at a time!

When the checkered flag fell - the finishing order was:

Next up - the action move to the tight turns of The Sand Pit oval!




First class to mix it up were the all new Whelen Modifieds and WOW they did NOT disappoint!!!

With the wide width, tight lane spacing and sharp, drift inducing corners - there was a whole lot of action with this class!
In true open wheel form, when you would stick a tire where it didn't belong, things would get "interesting" in a hurry! :lol:
The action was definitely fast and furious and when the dust settled the finishing order shook out as:

Next class to the fast lanes of the oval were the Late Models!
We ran these under a "Fuel" type format, making for a great twist on the action! Not only were you rubbing and racing through the corners - you also had to keep an watchful eye on the fuel gauge! (if you run out of fuel - you won't log laps until you refuel!)

Lots of fender rubbing action with this class! Fuel mileage and strategy also came into play with Steve planning his final laps to come out with nearly a dead empty tank at the end!

The final class of regular racing for the evening was the Fairground Stocker class!

We ran this class as a "fuel race" as well and while not quite as wild and hairy as the the late models - the action was hot!

Gang, I have to say, the racing with fuel has made this form of racing excellent.
I truly had a great time running these cars with the group using fuel, it’s a different race and soooo worth trying. Thanks Todd for sharing the action.
