Everytime I go out shopping with my wife grocery shopping or to Target or Walmart I constantly searching the Hot Wheels racks looking for suitable bodies for slot car conversions.

Looking for hot wheels has become quite an addiction lately looking for them for scenery and such!

Thank you guys for doing this to me!!!! :lol: :lol: :lol:

As if just acquiring Ho slot cars isn't bad enough......

I thought it was bad doing 1/32 conversions from model kits now every hot wheel or match box I look at I am thinking in my head what chassis will fit its wheel base.......

I'm still going to blame all you Ho guys that way it justifies all my hot wheels purchases when my wife and I are out shopping!!!!

Just a example...
Ski Boat,cheap one,used....$15000....
gas for boat,dock and storage fees..???
trailer for boat......???
maintenance for boat...???
gas to get boat to river.......??
Large pickup to tow boat to river.....??
Can only use about 4-5 months a year if the weather is right..
Lets say supplies (beverages ;) ,food etc)for all of your friends that want to either come with you
or borrow your boat....???
Insurance for boat...
And the list goes on....

Now there is nothing wrong with owning a boat..
Just saying I'll be looking for Hot Wheels... ;)

Rusty, did that, only the boat was a 26' cruiser. Everything you mentioned, PLUS dock fees, $3-4000 a year. How's that saying go: "Best day of my life was the day I bought my boat......Second best day of my life, was the day I sold it."

I have no desire to own a boat but I do desire to own more hot wheels!!!!

Plus they are easier to store also. No dockage fees on hot wheels.

I'm trying to figure out what to do with all the hot wheels chassis left over from the bodies I am converting to slot cars?

I will be going to get this years fishing license in the next few days.

Not that I will be able to use it anytime soon with all the snow on the ground and as bitter cold as it is....

And when I look back at my 1/32 car collection, I appreciate HO much more. The cars are so much smaller in HO...so you can have a whole lot more! Not that more is better. But you do get more track and that's always a good thing!

I have been in and out of 1/32 multiple times and I have decided I will not being going back to it a third time.

Not knocking 1/32 in any way because the cars are very nice but I can relate to ho better since I grew up with ho and have found memories from my childhood with this scale.

I like how you can fit a lot of track in a small area for a fun filled racing experience also. Plus now I am working on filling my 4th vintage hot wheels case with cars and when you stack the cases upon one another don't take up much space at all.

Ho is all good!!!!!

So, I took a hard look at myself. My last trip to Walmart: Making two piles of HW cars, one pile definitely buying, one pile maybe buying. Then to a display box, of 100 or so HW Mystery cars, of course "feeling" each one trying to figure out what each one was. Feeling confident, that I found the two Novas that I wanted, I gathered up ALL the piles of set aside cars and was off to the register....I just realized, that's 45 minutes out of my life I'll NEVER get back! In the last two years I've given up sugars, tobacco, alcohol, and all high cholesterol foods only to become a 6ft tall, 250lb man, with a shaved head and beard, standing in toy aisles feeling little plastic bags, staring at the ceiling. ...Dang you HO guys?... More like "#@$%*" you HO guys!

I had the same experience as you yesterday shopping with my wife for groceries at our local discount and grocery store Marc's. I was in the toy area thumbing through the hot wheels racks when a little boy and his mother passed me by in the aisle. The little boy asked his mom why is that man looking through all those hot wheels cars? I told him you will understand some day if you ever take an interest in cars like I have and left it at that. I get some many weird looks when I am standing in the toy aisles looking at these little cars. I usually play it off like I am buying them for my children. Hey the way I look at it we could be doing a lot more things more expensive and dangerous to our health. If nothing else the hot wheels didn't cost much and I can always give them to my kids or nephews to play with if I gather too many.

It is a funny thing about life..... I guess it does come full circle? I had pillow cases full of red line hot wheels as a kid talking my dad into buying them for me every time we went to the store or some of the gas stations gave them away with a fill up also. Here I am in my late 40's reliving my youth again with all of you guys enjoying the same also!!!!

Mentioned on another forum. I cut a few strips from an index card. Each strip is the size, from axle to axle, of a particular frame, with the frame name written on the strip. It's pretty easy to measure a wheelbase, when held up against a HW.....Keep the strips in your wallet (because if you don't have your wallet, you can't buy them anyway).
