Blue Angel Car!

Postby vabchrog » Mon Sep 21, 2015 7:27 am

I didn't get much modeling done this week between work and the grandkids most of my free time was eat. Did get to see the new Dr Who :)

Yesterday I took my 3 year old grandson Benjamin who loves airplane-jets aand his sisters to see the Blue Angels. What he liked the most was walking through a C5 Galaxy and Blue Angels in their close diamond formation

I have seen the Blue Angels fly F4 Phantoms, A4 Skyhawks and F18's. I can normally see them flying from house every year this is the first time I have been since Charlie and Marley were little about 15 years ago. Still as impressive as ever although their taste in show music is not as good as when the used the sound track from Top Gun. One of my fondest memories is Charlie tasking me about the Pig Squadron (red Rippers) The had a wart hog on the tail of their F14. My oldest son Kevin was with his H53 Seahawk on display and seeing the two together was real treat.

Now to the slot car relation :banana-dance: I also found this

I'm going to have to find some decals and make a TJET version of this car :text-bravo:

That 'stang looks cool! Growing up 15 minutes from Grumman Aerospace and having many family members employed there (including myself, at one time) I attended a lot of company picnics out on Long Island in the Peconic Bay / Calverton region. Saw many Blue Angels air shows, especially in my youth. My favorite jet was the F-111 "Tiger Cat", I built many models of those as a kid. If you visit the Cradle of Aviation Museum here on Long Island, there is a real one in Blue Angels livery hanging in the atrium above your head right as you walk in! It's worth the visit, everything from hot air balloons to the actual last Lunar Module built, which was never flown. Check the website.
Thanks for the great photos... Ernie :>)

I liked the looks but hated the 111's when they landed on the ship they all pulled hard to the right towards the island when the landed on the carriers I spent half my Naval career working on Tomcats. I was an AE taught the aircraft in the Navy, got out for a year and was an instructor out at Calverton for a year before I came back in the Navy
