You guys asked for more photo's. GreenRun is showing her age haven't made my mind up if I'm going to replace her or build a new one.

Starting line

I used white vinyl tape and cut out the slots. The pit wall is a balsa wood strip painted white held in with large straight pins. Its on a hollow core 30 x 80 door. I used cork railroad bed down the front straight. I used Black Foam board throughout the track. You need to use a thick piece of poster board to brink it up level
Image

At the end of the front straight headed for turn 1

1/4 inch plywood 4 inches high around 3 sides and 2 inches on the front. I found some backdrop online and put them together in photo shop then printed them on an ink jet plotter at work.

Coming out of turn 1 into turn 2 (I willreplace the blurry photo later)

I cut Johnny Lightning rear tires in half and painted them white

Image

Turn two

I cut strips of thick poster board for the white retraining wall and printed the sponsors on mailing labels then cut them out. Buds HO Cars Billboard was poster board and long tooth picks glued to it. The guy taking the picture is on top of a Life Like picnic set I goy that had small covered barbecue and picnic table. The Granstand are Aurora's with the sound part removed.

Turn 3

The first aid station was a Rally's giveaway thst I hand painted the red cross. JAG Hobbies Bill Board is an HO scenery piece I picked up but don't remember where. The Pits you will see came with NASCAR diecast that I removed. I printed different manufactures for the tool boxes on printing labels

Turn 4

The tents are printed paper that are cut out and glued to tooth picks. I got them online I will have to search for the website and post it here. The infield fence is screen and large straight pins. The guard rail is what comes with most race sets painted silver with the clip part cut off to make a pint that is pushed into the foam board.

Turn 5

J.W.'s TJET Building is an ????? I don't remember I will get back and edit this later. I will change the occupant of the building as it looks like JW's is out of business.

I used TJET Cottage Industry Sponsors all over the race track.

Turn 7

Lap is almost finished

Image

Headed to the finish line

Image

Getting ready to cover her up. Two bed slats on front straight with boxes on back straight and two of the curves for support. I have a long box with Model Motoring 15 inch straight up against the bed slats to hold it in place

Image

Cover on
Foam insulated 2 inch thick board cut to fit top of track

Image

This might be my next track a small 2 lane. I have been thinking about building one on foam board

Wow! Roger, I'm in Chesterfield, just north of you guys. Is Spencer one of your guys? He visited my track a while back.

There was a Spencer (retired police of sheriff don't remember which) use to run with us but I haven't seen him for a couple years. I don't race now days and only get a little modeling in in spurts. Work and lots of Grandchildren eat up most of my time.

That's the guy. He was a cop for all of his working life. He dropped out suddenly from HRW, and I wonder about his health.

Brings back great memories of proxy races on Green Run, Roger! Great that it has survived the years.
