Started out as a $3.00 junk box find at an HO swap meet. Areas had been brush painted, no glass or bumpers & broken windshield posts. I stripped the brushed on paint with 91% alcohol. My friend Pete Cioffari (owner of North Cedar Raceway) repaired the windshield posts & buffed out the body. He also added material to the front post as the Cigar Box length was too short. Replacement "glass" & resin repro bumpers are from Motor City Resin Casters.

I've never heard the term 'Cigar Box' in reference to this model T-bird. To what does it refer? Ever since my Hot Wheel days this has been my favorite T-bird and would love to find one in 1/32.

Cigar Box refers to a series of cars Aurora had using the T Jet bodies on a die cast chassis. The bodies were the same as used on T Jets but the mounting posts were modified to use a die cast chassis.

Nice looking T Bird! I got a Cigar Box version from my dad, and finally picked up a T Jet.
