Newest Cartrix F1 aquisistions

WoooHooo! Mailman just came, and brought my newest toy's!
The Ferrari 555, the Aston Martin DBR4,(that actually came earlier) And a very hard to find, but sweet, Kurtis Offy F1 car!
What a treat for the road course.

What a find. And if I may ask, where did you find those? I would like to start a collection of the later model Offy's and Kurtis units from the early sixties. I remember growing up back in northwestern Indiana and listening to the radio during the race in how the drivers would slow down to 75 mph for the turns. Those cars have come a long way since then. Also I would run home from school in April and May just to read about the latest information on the cars and drivers. It was really interesting reading about Jim Clark and how he had an unfair advantage with the rear engine ford and would run away from all the other Offy's.

Nice! Congratulations on landing that Offenhauser. Doesn't that Ferrari 555 have the sloppiest front end that you've ever seen on a Cartrix? I can't believe how much up/down play there is in that.

But I'm right there with you, adding nine GPLs over the past few weeks, six via trade. (extra-special thanks to oceanview!) I also picked up a second DBR4 (sealed at the moment) to see if a stock one really runs all that differently to the Slot.it/BRM one that I tuned up. (center)


What's really impressed me is how far they've come on the detailing on the new releases, taking care to add far superior suspension details than their earlier models:


And the inside of the wheels are looking a lot better too. Check out the difference between the new Alfa's brake dum and the hollow wheel of the older BRM:


It's nice to see that they are improving their models instead of just pumping out repaints and enjoying the profit generated by their limited releases. It'll be interesting to see what changes for the better on future models. Cartrix is really doing a great job with these GPLs!

The Kurtis came from the bay, it was a Christmas gift that i got to pick out.
Most of the rest are from various sources, including our board. The 555 has some very noticeable axle motion for sure! but it will be an easy fix. The problem with it to me , is the lack of power compared to my others. it may need some run in time.
I do love the looks of it though! All the finish's are almost to nice, they seem like they need toned down a bit to look right to me. Tuning the Scaly's down to match the Cartrix is the big trick, there is not a bunch of differenc at lower voltage, but enough to keep them competitive with on another.

I just added the #2 555 and was undoubtedly bidding against you for the Offy. Great collection. I love this series. I now have 3 and I think my Dad has 7-8. They make for excellent races on our track.

I was going to get all of those as they came out, but the cost got to be more than I was willing to pay. I didn't want them enough to look at Ebay or used cars. I still really like the ones I have, but the Offy Curtiss is lonely. I think I have the red one. I think that's when I quit buying them.

The temptation for me with these things has been to detail the suspensions and make them more realistic, like the exhausts, springs, etc. I always assumed that would kill the value so I never did it, but wouldn't that look great?

Yes, that detail would be awesome. I am not a collector, so these will be raced. And I might even do some of the needed detail upgrades. I know they have value, but to me its all about racing the cars I like. I figure if I can buy an RTR car that I really like, for around the same price as a good scratch built car costs me, I did alright.
And by the way, If you want to maybe say, sell that red one?????? I would be interested to say the least.

I've only got a Ferrari, a Maserati and a Mercedes but I really like that Aston Martin. I may have to pick one up.

Very nice indeed - must admit I'm a big fan of the Cartrix cars. Especially the very limited edition ones.
