I just watched the Superbowl halftime show for the first time in 15 years, and its still stupid. Does anyone remember when the halftime show was worth looking at? Good grief.

It is disappointing when there is so much hoopla and techocrap that you can't enjoy the music. I guess we are getting old, eh?

I must say, I am a bit prejudiced, having been a proud member of the State 3rd runner up, Long Beach Mississippi Bearcat Marching Band, 1962-'65. Okay, its sad, but I had a lot of fun. Kinda like my buddy, who majored in Theater in a Fine Arts Bachelor's, because all the guys in that major were, uh, not very interested in the girls... at all. My buddy and I cleaned up. Good times.

The half time show really sucked. It was bad, over blowen and just....well I could go on and on but I think you get the idea.....

I kind of liked it, mainly because the huge area they were walking on was a platform of tv screens synched together. I thought that was an amazing piece of technology to be assembled and working in a few minutes. The music was not really my style, especially the obligatory rap from Missy somebody. I just kept being amazed by the effects of the floor moving under them.

I thought it was well done. Definitely better than shows from the previous years. But I am prejudiced. With kids who are 14 and 12 and Katy Perry fans I know her music and like her. Lenny Kravitz has always rocked. If anything, I thought the show could have been longer. The technology was something to see as well.

That was without a doubt, the best dog show/trick show I have ever heard of. What a great bunch of dogs!

My son-in-law, who's a musician, couldn't take the halftime show so he changed channels. College students tell me that at every party, hosted by anyone from hockey to lacrosse, men or women, it's rap music that is being played and danced to. Even though it doesn't suit my old ears, to keep young eyes and ears tuned in that genre has to be included.

Next year is the 50th SuperBowl - too bad the halftime show wasn't around when the Rat Pack could have performed, with Count Bassie and orchestra providing the music. OK, time for my meds.

But you got to admit, when Katy Perry came out with that one outfit on, it looked like she had a uniform on from the Hotdog stand at the mall.

For a girl who made her name by coming out on stage nearly naked for concerts for two solid years a few years back, she seemed a bit dowdy. Maybe she got old... Seems to happen to all of us, spoken by a paunchy old cook who created most of what made him paunchy...

And lately, I've fallen into the area of cooking that does the most damage. I'm baking breads. Oh woe is me...
