I don't evny the powers that be that have to determine who the halftime entertainment is every year. Having to determine the demographics of who may watch the Super Bowl for that particular year. No matter who they end up selecting, there's going to be a segment of the population that's not happy.

Does Katy Perry cater to the sexagenarian demographic? Of course not. But reading the reviews this morning in many of the major news sites, it seems that the demographic that the show was aimed at was pretty pleased with the performance last night.

That says a lot more about the little slice of a sector they are polling, not the actual performance. In the middle 70s, a sector of the population thought "Bubble Gum" was music. There's differences in taste, and there's WTF. I think its pretty clear which that was. Katy Perry is not a particular favorite of mine so I looked her up to see if that was what she made her money doing, and compared to anything else she has done, that was pathetic.

In my opinion, it was the best show easily in the last 10 years. Didn't care for the rap portion, but the rest was fine. She may not be your cup of tea, but I'm sure most folks here weren't the demographic they were after.

The technology side of it was pretty wicked. I've got a friend that works for the NFL...you cannot imagine what went into that.

I enjoyed it because I like Katy Perry. Color me GUILTY. LOL. But yeah, it was a snoozer of a show. They should have cameoed Lenny Kravitz for much longer and replaced Missy with him. In previous years, Prince and Bruno Mars were fantastic and very very strong performances. This performance was bland but like others have said, I really like the technology of the screens on the floor (without one of them going dead or blank or out of synch). I was also worried when they were floating Katy all across the stadium at the end. She does write self-empowering songs and for that, I give her kudos.

PS - the number of memes showing up based on Perry's shark dance is just great. Picture a scene out of Jaws with one of those blue sharks in place of the movie shark and the motto: "We're gonna need a bigger boat." LOL...see, when handed lemons, make lemonade!

Challenger - the memes are hysterical. I was actually pretty impressed that she allowed herself to be hoisted around like that. I know she was obviously strapped in, but that will check your reactions to height very quickly - especially with the sound, lights and fireworks.
