Time flies… February 9, 1965

If you are near a certain age (and many of us are) I bet that I can tell you what you were doing on this date 50 years ago.
You were glued to the television watching the Beatles make their first appearance on the Ed Sullivan Show.

I sort of vaguely remember that...

I was 5 years old....

I was 12 and two things were at the top of my list - slot cars and the Beatles. What a great film!
"A group of fine youngsters" indeed - they look so incredibly polished. Those were different times...

I remember going to the drive-in to see their movies and they had a Beatles look alike band in front of the projection house playing Beatles songs....time does fly

Don't know what this has to do with 1/32nd slot cars, but I had been playing guitar for about a
year at this time, and was thinking about changing to bass. I had recently purchased a used
Gibson EB-3, but seeing the Beatles and Paul's Hofner convinced me I needed one too. So
the snow shoveling money I was earning started going towards the purchase of a used one
that summer. I still have both.

Feeling like one of the young ones here as I was two years old when they played that show...........

I was 14 when they were on Ed Sullivan. I remember it like it was yesterday. I believe they played "I wanna hold your hand" and "She loves you" :)

I must be REALLY old, I also remember when Elvis was on the Ed Sullivan show!

I remember hearing both Elvis & the Beatles on the Ed Sullivan Show, as well as other entertainers. Topo Gigio was my weekly favorite.

I do like them though...so I guess that's close enough.

The Ed Sullivan performance was before my time and wasn't shown here, but I've seen the clips many times. Dad was a big Beatles fan and so my middle name comes from one of their songs.

Czar, I hear ya. I went to get new glasses and they said that I now have to go a "specialist". It
seems the last few years, every time I have an ache, I need a specialist. A regular doctor can't
fix what's wrong. I think they are afraid I might drop dead on them and try to sue. Like the
lawyer ads on TV. "If you suffered pain, disfigurement or death, please call the law firm of.....".
