I saw that car race at Elkhart Lake in '69. I was a little younger then. :text-yeahthat:
While the Gp 7s were all loud, this monster Olds 455's tone roared deeper and louder than the rest. I remember watching practice action at turn 7 and first hearing it thunder up the front straight. It's sound was so characteristic. Watching at turn 7, it became obvious that they had handling problems on deceleration, because they seemed very slow in the sharp corners. They weren't a factor in the race, but what a car! No one had a wedge like that.
I remember it as a blue car and not the white that I've shown above. Mr. Walker, your rendition is fantastic. I just missed one on Epay, but I'll keep my eyes open for another.

Edit: my memory isn't as sharp as I'd like. This event must have been the '68 race, not '69. Hall was there with the 2E and not the abomination that Surtees raced in '69. Here's a link explaining a little about the car, particularly the engine:
