Palmer Divide Raceway gets some fencing

Postby dreinecke » Sun Mar 08, 2015 11:26 am

The Palmer Divide Raceway exists in that period in of the 1960's-1970's where changes in safety we slowly coming into play. Starting with wood fencing, the PDR has just begun changing to concrete walls as seen on one end of the circuit. In the meantime, the wood fencing is in and is slowly being detailed and weathered. As you can see, the fencing has taken a beating over the years and points to the need of better catch fencing.

When completed, hay bales will be placed in the appropriate places.

BTW - 96 post holes were dug and the PDR track staff is whipped!

Enjoy!

The fence is perfect may have to rethink mine. Really like the back pit area too. Jim

Nice job Doc, just adds to, the realism of the track.
Always nice paying a pictorial visit to PDR.

never disappointed is an under statement Denny, this is my go to track for inspiration, a long time favorite since the plastic days. I hope to someday achieve the look and atmosphere this track has on my road course. David might be the doctor of resin but his landscaping style and abilities are second to none in my eyes. Great work as usual Doc and the more pictures the better. Dave!

Thanks guys, I'm pretty stoked to have just gotten it to this point. I'd love to get some turf down but if I don't get this Corvair done, I'll be in big trouble!

I love the new PDR but those 96 post holes is one of the reasons I'll be doing an early-mid 50s Sebring-esque track when I get mine up......just cones, 55 gal drums and hay bales! Besides, I could never compete with what you have :text-bravo:

Sure you could! Besides, no competing here - we are all friends and enthusiasts!

They are easy-peasy to do. I had all the fencing up in 2 hours. They are surprisingly resilient to impacts too.
