Thanks for the clarification Jules - I really like that idea.
I have a couple of Scalextric cars that have been too much effort to convert - (read "hacking and reaming" or possibly terminal laziness) - that it will be awesome to get onto the track with a much simpler upgrade.

Jules, while I don't race digital I have to agree with your thinking that the manufacturers should standardize...if not their digital systems at least the physical size of the board so, MrAdept put it, you don't have to hack the cars up. Nice design work.

This is huge for digital and goes a long way to bridge the two leading brands. Even if the doors sold separately I would buy a ton to easily chip DPR cars to D132.

Good question, Mark.

I don't know why more dealers don't stock the TYPHOON 18k motor. As of right now, only 5 dealers worldwide actually carry motors in 'stock' (meaning 10 or more). Between then they move 100's a month.

If you want to buy in US then the only dealer stocking them (or should I say advertising the fact) is Electric Dreams.
In England you have Pendle Slot Racing or INASLOT.

There is a brand new dealer about to go online in the US that will be stock an entire inventory of Pioneer spares. I think they will launch in May so expect an announcement from them specifically with regard to that.

In the meantime, if you get trouble finding them all you need to do is PM me and I will get something organized for you.

Just to jump in here for a reply. I'm personally pleased to see you've made the space for a Carrera digital chip. As to your point about standardization... it's never going to happen... if anything with the growth of Carrera in North America and around the world we're getting further away from that idea ever happening... ever.

We had about nine TYPHOON 18k motors in stock but just sold them yesterday. We will get more in with our next Pioneer dealer order.

Now I don’t mind telling you that your Carrera Head office in Germany turned down an opportunity to work with other slot car makers, including Pioneer, with regard to fitting digital chips in other brands. My agent in Germany did make an approach last summer. He was shown the door.

If Carrera continue to keep slot car pricing low then you are correct. There will be only one standard…..

It is a marketing strategy that the Germans are very, very good at. That is one of the reasons why they got to be the most important industrial European nation.

I'm not surprised that happened Jules, looking at it from the larger brand point of view there's little benefit. Here in North America there might be more benefit. And I personally think it's cool that you're doing this. A safe job is why i left my last company... much more stable here ;)

Sure i'd be happy to sell you 1000 chips.... say $30.00 each :)
