We have a new member at skool today







I was fortunate enough to find and win this model on the bay a couple of months ago for a LOT less than what they usually go for. This is my first attempt at converting a model into a slot car as well as my first attempt at detail painting and using bare metal foil. I just could not bring myself to changing the color of the car as I felt that there was no other color that would improve the model. Mounted on a Pioneer chassis. Hope you guys will overlook my lack of photo skills and does anyone have a back bumper. :)

I had you in mind when I was building it. :lol: I've always wanted a 1:1 version but never was able to find one. I would also like to extend a big thank you to dge467 for his thread on the use of bare metal foil.

I still need to get a rms resin body but I won't ever build it cause it will be far from perfect if I paint it and I need it to be. I'm not a painter lol

Me either, I am severely artistically challenged. I was also thinking while I was doing this that it would have been kind of cool to have done this when I didn't have to look through tri-focals. :lol:

Lol. It looks great!!! You killed it my friend. Id be proud if I was you!! Man I've looked at your picks over and over. I bought my car when I was 14. No help from mom and dad other then signing papers for child labor laws. I'm 32 now. It wasn't easy finding a job to buy my car.

That looks great Randy! Nice job on the foil! The wheels look great on there also. My first car was almost a 68 Barracuda with a slant 6, my buddy beat me to it! I had to settle for a 72 Cuda 340 4 speed for the same money! :lol: This was back in 1987.

I'd say you got the better deal for the money. My brother had a 72 Cuda 440 auto convertible auto that he changed to a 4 speed. He sold it about 10 years ago. Now has a 65 Dodge Coronet convertible with a stroker Hemi in it. I put put around in an '06 300C SRT8 6.1 425 HP. Currently still stock. 9 more payments then can we say modifications.

This car looks fantastic. Makes me want to build my resin 71 Satellite/Roadrunner. I had a 71 Satellite, first car I bought at 18. 318 column shift. My brother and souped it up. 340 heads, 4 barrel, headers with side-pipes, B&M Torque converter, B&M floor shifter. Dad wouldn't pay the insurance on a RoadRunner :D

Those Torq Thrust 5 spoke wheels are available separately but only from a few dealers and none of them advertise on HRW so I'd better not post links. If you PM me I can sort this out for you.
