Yup, if you look carefully between the crown and the endbell, you'll see a piece of 1/8" square black (dark gray, actually) styrene running from one side to the other; glued in with Loctite 380. It turned out to be unnecessary; the MRRC Sebring chassis is very tough and has, essentially, zero flex.

Good luck with your build. Looking forward to seeing it progress.

So...........the MGA:

Image

Artin chassis: modified rear mount, NC-1, shortened front end, narrowed to fit under the body. Resin front axle mount since the prior one was cut out. Post-in-post front mount.

Image

Body is a Palmer.....basically the same as the Monogram but it has separate lower side panels.

Image

When I got it, a lower panel was missing, it had two holes in the rear deck and huge mess where the windscreen used to be located. Lots of putty and sanding later, the hood ridges are mostly gone but it's smooth enough to be a runner even with the Ninco wire wheels.

Image

Decals are Monogram (numbers) and some miscellaneous sponsor sheets laying around. So that's the MGA.......for better or worse, all that is left is tuning.

Chappyman66, I really like that MGA! Brings back some great memories from my misspent youth. Looks great with the Monogram decals and the Ninco wires.

Keith, the Bluesome Twosome looks like a potent combo. The 356 also falls into my "favorite cars" category. If it ran well in last year's TLOR, then it will run well in this fun run; I'm sure of that.

Some nice looking cars coming my way.............!

Nice Jag! Those Strom bodies can be made to look very nice with some time and effort.

Well I'm down to the wheel inserts and clearcoat on the Corvette.
I hate it when you only have 2 of something you need 4 of.
Of course a quick check revealed a broken guide collar,,,, Thanks B Nova easy fix.
Jag is done , so I'm getting there.
Just that and then some testing to see how they run.
I'll post some pics of both once the Corvette is done.
But I can see the light at the end of the tunnel.

Some progress on the build over the past few days. Looking at other's entries; it's a darn good thing that the livery is from the factory because there is no way my painting would be a fraction as good as those recently posted.

Stumbled on a (hopefully happy) accident in searching for a can end mount. It's cut out of an old Scalex NASCAR. During the trial fittings it happened that, if the mount was left full height, then it would tilt the motor so that the armature lined up with the rear axle. The offset crown can be done away with.

WOW - I know how little room there is in there from the factory - getting a FC130 can in there is definitely not a project for the weak of heart!

Nice looking D-jag, Sarge! And in the right color, too. They are great looking racers; no wonder they were so popular in the mid-'50's.

Nice job on pushing the FC-130 Hawk to the back of the car, Mc. Looks like a good fit and with good support now that you have the can end braced. Nice little extra that the gear fit is good enough now so that you don't need to use the offset crown. In my experience, the mesh between the pinion and a straight cut crown is always a little better than it is with an offset crown.

Well it was after working into the wee hours , final touches and a couple of thrashing laps around the test track.
The boys decided it was time to pack and haul. So they put the cars on the trailer and flatbed and tightened the strapping giving everything the once over. Of course being a small budget team , airfreight was out of the question so
team manager Maxmillion Smell decided to hit the open road and head for Merrimack.
Max was in the lead Land Rover pulling the trailered Jag while team manager Heinz Catchup followed in the flat bed with the Corvette.
everyone wanted to get on the road and in their haste to leave Max had left the GPS and cell phone on the shop bench.
Thank the lord said Heinz as he turned on his CB and keyed the michrophone calling Max.
Mr Smell I'm about a mile behind you said Heinz. Well said Max hurry and Catchup, Catchup.
And so the journey to Merrimack for the start of ROAR is underway. If anyone see's these poor lost souls please give them directions and hopefully Mr Smell and Mr Catchup will arrive in time.
As they ROARed down the asphalt ribbon Smell was heard saying Damn the torpedos ,, full speed ahead. Heinz is still looking for the torpedoes.
If anyone does see them tell them the spare tires and tool boxes are still in the race shop. Poor old Max
