Thanks guys. I have put a lot into the designee and building of the track. Locoracer Tom has been my helper all along and we have been happy with it all along. When you start designing a track I think it is difficult to maximize the track for the space and still come up with something that will produce fair and even racing and still be interesting and challenging. I spent a lot of hours in the planning stage and I can't tell you how many drafts ended up in the trash. Even once I had a solid idea of what it should be I would draw and erase over and over trying to get it exactly like I wanted it.
Christian Gingras' track was indeed an inspiration. I thought now that is a track that catches your eye when you walk in the room. It is what sold me on the black track surface and yellow fascia that will be made of 1/8" HDPE plastic. I also plan on adding black skirting around the track to hide the legs and allow for out of site storage.
I will admit that as great as Tom and I think it is and all of the great comments from all the folks on how great it looks it was great to have Harry over to try it out and get the unbiased opinion of someone who has raced on a lot of track of all types. I can't wait to have a bunch of people over for a race or fun run.
It has been a fun and rewarding experience all along the way and I got a great track that will provide years of fun and excitement. All I can say is that if I can do it so can you. Sharpen up that pencil, grab some graph paper and start scratching out your dream track. That's the beautiful thing about a routed track. It can be whatever you want it to be.
