Would there be a demand for a "Club Racer" range of cars say in the Scalextric GT-3 class with standard body, motor & chassis but with slot it axle kits front and back standard out of the box instead of the plastic parts ?
A lot of clubs around here have a of class catering for the Scalex, SCX, Carrera type of cars but allow upgrading of the running gear while retaining the standard body/chassis/motor configuration. The main reason given for allowing this is for greater reliability and better running of the cars. This usually entails buying an after market kit which added into the cost of the original car pushes the total price up into NSR territory.
Considering that Scalex already have a tie up with Slot It. a RTR "club racer" may fit in nicely between the standard RTR car and the higher performance PCR 3d printed chassis kit and would cater for those looking for a more modest performer but with good quality running gear straight out of the box much like a standard slot it model.
I'm not sure about the difference in cost between making the original plastic components and those from Slot It. but I hopefully pricing would be around the cost of a standard RTR Slot It. model.
Cheers
