I got the top edge all but done. It's hard to see, but I do have 1 place along the back that still needs some finish work. I shot a few quick pictures when I took a break from sucking up all the little yellow plastic bits. Man do they cling to everything. Next is the bottom edge, but we needed to take some time to do some racing first. After all, that's what it's all about.





I will admit that the plastic has been quite a bit of work and I'm sure that I could have done something easier, but this is what I wanted and I will have to say that I think it has been worth it. I had seen the post related to Christian building his new track at CSSC and loved the look. I wanted something totally different for a track, but I wanted that look. So I hope he doesn't mind that I stole the look.

No sweat Karl. I'm more or less ready now. I swapped to Piranha, and re-geared, after some weight saving efforts.

I have got to admit that the Piranha has more punch. We ran them again yesterday and the MT5 hangs with pretty good, but if a guy could get the power down coming off he corner I think he could be quite a bit quicker.

I have been running foam tires on the track from day one as in the beginning the PG tires were way edger to drive. Today I put PG's back on one of my H&R cars to see how they ran and I was pretty impressed. They do drive totally different than the foams, but they made good grip. If anything they made more grip. I traction rolled the car a few times before I figured out how to drive it with the added grip. After I got the hang of it I was slower than I was with the foams, but I think I can tune the car to the extra grip and get some of that back.

Worst case is that we are all going to be in the same boat running the slightly slower lap times. We are only talking 2 tenths of a second. It's not like dragging a boat anchor around with you. I would also imagine that as the PG's run and put down rubber it will change yet again.

The time has finally come. On 2/21/16 will be open. This is intended to be a fun run with a race or 2 thrown in along the way. It will all be in the name of fun with lots of time to run whatever you want. Yes I know that it is Daytona 500 day and I have it covered. The race will be on a 50" TV that is next to the racing area as well as on the 150" screen in the theater just 35' from the track. Lets just say that it's a race themed get together.

I don't have the food totally worked out yet, but I would be willing to say that there should be plenty of good eats to be had. Spiral sliced ham and the fixings to make sandwiches with it if you would like along with potato salad will be the main dish. It goes without saying that we will have chips and something sweet to snack on too. I always put out soft drinks, but you are welcome to bring harder drinks of your choice.

My home is a non smoking home, but I was a smoker and want you to feel welcome too. The smoking area is in the screened in porch just 5 feet from the track so you can see the racing action or the race on TV while you smoke.

While I have plenty of room, this is my first time having such an event and want to be sure that everyone has a good time so I am going to limit attendance to be safe. If you are local and have not already heard from me and would like to come send me a PM. We do still have room for a few more at this point.

I hope that the main attraction is the Insane Speedway, but I am also putting up a Carrera oval track for those of you that don't care for turning right. It looks like the feature race is going to be the vintage NASCAR on H&R chassis, but one never knows. Sometimes an unexpected race ends up stealing the show.

Things get started at 9am on the 21st.
