Tino - Truck
carrera chassis with 4WD added, NSR shark motor, stock carrera body
very interesting 4WD truck. way too much axle play front and rear, stock tires, vibrating, always trying to jump out of the slot. still fun too drive. deslotted on some interesting places, jumped the timing gateway twice.
great potential in this one. looks good on the track

Image

Image

Image

Dan - BARC Boxster
credit card chassis racer, resin body
What a nice little car. Sadly there are some issues - way too long gearing, resulting in weak accelaration and poor braking. tires and axles seem not to be true. jumping under acceleration. Handling is quite good and overall nice to drive. Could have done better. Motor seems stressed.

Image

Image

Image

Sven - Mazda 787
Kyosho body and running gear in 3D printed type 1 chassis
how far can you come with untrued and unglued tires? very far! the car is jumping under acceleration badly, but still picks up speed. And the Kyosho running gear is for sure the smoothest and most silent gear set out there. man i love it. the printed chassis seems to work fine, even it is a magnet chassis with the motor a little more in the front.
The Mazda loved the street light in front of the tire shop - the wing kissed the street light i think every single lap :D

Image

Image

Image

Sven - Porsche
SCX compact
a stock car with CarGo tires on the rear axle. not trued, nothing. very quite running gears. As all SCX cars, the Porsche handles really nice, great to drive. tricky in the turns as the front tires grip. Jumping out of the corners as the rear tires are not trued.
Great paint job!

Image

Image

Image

Uwe - Audi DTM
slotdevil micro chassis with SCX body
nice car to drive. front end seems a little heavy, tail tends to kick out. could make a great distance driving car.

Image

Image

Image

Sven - BMW M1
resin body on 3D printed CFF chassis
the unsealed front tires are a really huge problem on this car. Entering a turn puts pressure on the front tire, the motor pod stays planted on the rear, so the grip on the front works like a lever and rolls the cars over. and over. and over. i did not barrel roll all the other cars so many times like this one during the training laps, trying to find speed.
Otherwise, this cars handles soooo nice, accepting all kinds of driving, always getting the power from the small FF030 motor to the track, i think is an Radio Shack motor, with plenty of speeed. Gears sound like new, not even broken in just a little.
And the looks are really cool, too. Goint down the straight with a high pitched scream, it´s awesome to drive. But always carefull entering the turn ...
could have done way, way better!
and it looks so good on the track, too!

Image

Image

Image

Image

CarGo - Mustang Dat Dog
resin body on MRRC chassis
a real american muscle car ;) sooo much power from that big motor, untrued front tires, chassis would handle good, i think the body may be mounted a little high, so the center of gravity is high, too, the result is a car that likes straight lines so much and makes you fear the next turn ;) good brakes make it a little less worse.
great paint job.
what i really like is some action and i got this from this car. during the training laps it lost a wheel, the right rear. but easy to repair with screwed aluminium wheels ;)
Very nice paint job!

Image

Image

Image

CarGo - Rockstar Mustang
resin body on FunOneChassis with prototype motor
i like the motor, good speed, good brakes. i do not uncoated front tires, even if they are independent. They always screw up handling, same for this car. The heavy, high CoG Mustang jumped to place where no proxy car has been before. Mostly unexpected.
Nevertheless, the chassis handles very good, the guide seems to be placed too high in the chassis due to the big wheels.
Awesome paint and decal job, very, very nice!
could use wheel inserts to improve the look even more. But the decal and paint is still an awesome job done!

Image

Image

Uwe - Aston Martin DB9
Kyosho body on tinkered stock chassis
i do not like the stock position of the guide near the front axle, makes handling a little nervous for my feelings, but this is just me. guide could go deeper in the slot. on one side, the body mount seems to be loose. lost the rear wing sometimes, but it´s only a press fit, so no problem.
This is one of most quiet slotcars ever on the track. a little rattle from the body, tire squeal, but no sound from motor or gears. astonishing.
Very nice and low!

Image

Image

Image

Julian - Porsche
SCX compact with ??? motor
There is no play in the rear axle and it seems to be very hard going. maybe a little too much CA glue to get the play out. motor seems stressed, too. a little better after qualifying and training laps. before racing, i put small drops of oil on the axles.
in the middle of the training laps, the motor seems to be getting hot. during inspecting, a loose right rear wheel appeared. So, a little CA into the rim and off we go again. Ahhhh, better. Sometimes it will stop dead anyway and start as soon as it stopped.
Some serious weight seems to be added on the inside of the car, too, as you can really head into the turns without deslotting.
Nice handling. Great to see a little dancing of the rear under heavy acceleration.
Nice paint and decals!

Tilo - Coupe
scratchbuilt chassis with resin body
What a great looking car! And fast, too! Faster than expected. The wide rear axle picks up dust where no other had been before during the race, some extra cleaning helped to get also this racing line free of dust :)
The low CoG really helps handling, you can get into the turn sooo fast and still get through without drama!
A beauty on the track and running really smooth. No noise of a kind.
Great car!
the photos do not do any justice to this paint job, too. could not the white balance right to show the color right and show the flames on the doors. so nice.

Image

Image

Image

Uwe - Citroen Xsara
printed chassis with Heller kit body
what a nice looking car! great paint and decals on this Heller kit!
very smooth running, with crisp braking and due to the light weight, great acceleration, too.
a little tricky through the tight bends, i think due to the higher CoG of a rally car. This car looks great running around the track, it really likes the big bend will nearly full speed!

Image

Image

Image

Peter - BARC Porsche
scratchbuilt styrene chassis with resin body
there is a little chatter from the rear end, also the little motor seems to have some heat problem. At least those problems showed up in the middle of the timed laps. not before of course. not afterwards. just in the middle. Otherwise the little Porsche is a nice looking car, thanks t Dan again for it!

Image

Image

Image

Tilo - Porsche 997
scratchbuilt chassis with resin body
a fast and smooth car, also a little tricky in tight turns. likes to barrel roll and jump out of the slot with the front. Fast turns are this cars teritory.
Aweosome paint and decals - the shine of the paint is incredible.

Image

Image

Image

Andreas - Mercedes SLS
FunOneChassis with fiberglass body
what a car, handles like a dream, fast and smooth.
also the looks - awesome!
a fascinating machine of power!

Image

Image

Image

Andreas - BMW DTM
FunOneChassis with fiberglass body
i already know that i can´t build a fast car, learned this lesson right now. Totally unbelievable what this car just did on the track. Former lap record was set by Ted, with a soldered brass chassis. Now, the lap record dropped by at least 0.2 seconds.
This cars handles awesome, brakes good and accelerates like hell. All with clear windows, driver figure and outstanding paint job.
I can´t believe this years entries are from this world!
Great job!

Image

Image

DerClaus - Porsche
printed GRC chassis with resin body
the little Porsche came to live when fed with 17V. nice handling, seems to be glued to the track. only the tight turns and esses at the end of the lap, where the guide will need it´s full range of travel, it´s not always running that good. the guide contacts the body and this sets it off.
very nice and fast running little car. paint has a good visibility on the track ;)

Image

Image

Image

Andreas - Corvette
FunOne Chassis with Kyosho body
i´m officially depressed now. Even faster than the Beamer. A lap time under 8 seconds. If you have asked me a week ago i would have sait - impossible!
The only thing - this speed takes it´s value. The crown gear (screwed Slot. It) came loose in lap 22. no problem. puddle dude race team could handle this, even under depression.
And it even looks good sitting there on the track. Fast, sooooo fast.
And so nice.
Can i keep it?

Image

Image

Image

Andreas - Porsche 962K
FunOne Chassis with altered Kyosho body
another blazing fast car! nice shortening of the kyosho body, looks good.
handling is great, better than the corvette, a little more forving. Great car to drive.

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Tilo - Porsche 918
scratchbuilt chassis with resin body
This Porsche is a beauty! so nice details, doesn´t depend where you look, you will find a great detail to inspect closer.
i think this car did not run one meter before, it´s not really broken in. Already it handles great, only the rear end likes to step out a little. Very nice to drive. And quick, too.
The paint and decals are outstanding.

Image

Image

Image

Image

Peter - Porsche 962
scratchbuild styrene chassis with DSlot components, K&D tires, Kyosho body
even after some years, this one is a real smooth car to drive. running really quiet. and fast. it´s running better than the printed motorpod chassis as that one would need some real maintenance, which i could not find time to do.
It´s fast and sits low - i like it :)

Thanks for a great day full of racing!
Thanks for sending such a heap of nice running cars!
and man, they are fast!

And now - the results!

Great report Peter. That was a field of some very nice cars. BARC racing will lick out wounds and get back to work finding the right chassis motor combo for next years race

This information will be very useful as we can now take a car that has competed and use that as a baseline for the work on next years car. We will have to be better if we hope to compete against the cars that are being entered although that is only part of the Proxy experience. Equally important is the partcipation and fun watching and seeing cars from others compete.

Sounds like you had a record breaker for this years race and the Bar has certainly been raised. BARC was expecting times in the mid 9s and we were slower then that so it is back to the drawing board. More time needs to be spent on go and less on show!!!!

Thanks guys!
Dan, the BARC did quite well. The field this year has been really strong, raising the level of competition definitely.
The CCR chassis seems to allow a little too much flex in all directions, also the guide area. Body mounting with the tubes is a great idea for fast and easy access, but there are other methods that will allow a better weight transfer between body and chassis, i.e. 4 screws between the wheels.
As you´re already working on tires, this will also be a big improvement.
The show of the BARC Team was excellent, really nice cars.

The Pronomag just gets better and betterer!

Thanks for putting on this great event as usual Peter.

All the entrys are outstanding these days, both in looks and performance. Congratulations must go to the winners and all of the other teams!

And, of course, thanks to Cargo Customs for their generous sponsorship.

This is definitely the 1/43 proxy flagship, and long may it continue!

I must start now if I am to have a competitive team for next year!

Regards, Lloyd.

All ready working on next years car. Casting my own urethane tires has resulted in much better grip so I should have that issue resolved. Not giving up on the GCC yet though. It has proved to be great for scale building. I need to focus on a race version, which I will be doing.

Just want to say how much fun it is to have an event to build for. You can count on BARC being there next year!
